China's first stamp issue, the Large Dragon of 1878, 3 candarins in red. This is Scott #2, the thin-paper printing featuring the imperial dragon amid clouds with CHINA and CANDARINS in Latin lettering flanked by Chinese characters. Mint, original gum, lightly hinged. Sound example with bold color and a well-defined design impression; typical thick native paper.
