Privacy policy

In plain English
We collect the minimum information needed to take your order, ship it, and stay in touch about it. We don’t sell your data, we don’t share it for marketing, and we don’t store your card numbers.
What we collect
- Order information: name, email address, shipping address, and (optionally) phone number.
- Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number, CVC, or expiration. We only see a confirmation that payment succeeded.
- Account information (if you create an account): email, name, and a hashed password — we can’t see your password in plain text.
- Order history: what you bought from us, linked to your account if you have one.
- Newsletter: only your email address, and only if you sign up. One-click unsubscribe is on every newsletter we send.
- Cookies and site state: a session cookie keeps you logged in; cart contents are stored on your device until checkout.
Stamp photos & identification
When you use our stamp-identification tools — the “Identify a Stamp” page on this site or our mobile app — the photo you submit and the resulting identification may be stored by Big Sky Stamps and used to operate, improve, and train our identification services, including building reference datasets and machine-learning models. We keep this data privately and do not sell it.
Photos of stamps generally don’t contain personal information; please don’t include personal or identifying details in the images you upload. To request removal of photos you’ve submitted, email info@bigskystamps.com.
Who we share with
We use a small set of trusted services to run the site. Your information is shared only to the extent each service needs to do its job:
- Stripe — processes your payment.
- Supabase — stores your account and order records.
- Resend — delivers our transactional emails (order confirmation, shipping, etc.).
- Netlify — hosts the site itself.
- Shipping carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) — receive your shipping address to deliver your order.
We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing.
Order-related emails (confirmation, shipping, customer service) go out automatically — those aren’t opt-in/opt-out, they’re part of fulfilling your order. Marketing emails (newsletter announcements, new arrivals) are opt-in only and every one has a one-click unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can:
- See your data — view orders and account details on your account page.
- Update your data — edit your account or contact us to update it.
- Delete your data — email info@bigskystamps.com and we’ll remove your account and personal information, subject to records we’re legally required to keep (sales tax, accounting).
- Unsubscribe from marketing email — one click, every email.
How long we keep things
Order records: as long as required by tax and accounting rules (typically 7 years in the US). Account data: until you ask us to delete it. Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe.
Children
Our site isn’t directed at children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be communicated to active customers by email.
