Classic-era US 3-cent Washington, Scott #26a (dull red shade), perforated 15.5, issued 1857. Used with a bold diagonal pen/manuscript cancel across the vignette. Centering is fine with reasonably balanced margins on all sides. The orange-red (dull red) shade is the characteristic variety distinguishing #26a from the standard #26 (scarlet).
